Tattoo Aftercare
Do’s:
- If a bandage was applied, remove it in 1 hour. Wet the bandage lightly if needed. This will prevent it from pulling at the skin.
- Wash the tattoo at least twice a day with warm water (NOT HOT WATER) and a fragrance free, clear, antibacterial soap.
- Rinse thoroughly, and then gently pat dry with a clean towel.
- On the 2nd day, apply a light coat for dye-free, fragrance-free lotion (i.e. Curel or Lubriderm) 2 times a day or as needed. Do not over apply.
- Washing your hands before applying lotion is essential for the proper healing of your tattoo.
- If any signs of infection are present, you should call and consult your physician for an evaluation.
Do Not’s:
- Do not scratch, pick, or irritate the tattoo as it heals.
- Do not swim or soak your tattoo for two (2) weeks or until the tattoo is fully healed.
- Do not expose your tattoo to sunlight or tanning beds until it is fully healed.
After the tattoo is healed, you should always use sun block over the tattoo to prevent fading
